Featherstone Rovers Families: Big brother




There are a variety of players who, through no fault of their own, will always be known as “the brother of” or “the son of”. These are players who have made very occasional appearances in the Rovers first team, and had relations rather better known to Rovers fans.

Deryck Fox (353 games between 1983 and 1997) and his brother Martin Fox (2 games as a sub in 1988).

Ikram Butt (168 games between 1990 and 1995) and his brother Tony Butt (2 games in 1991).

Mick Gibbins (333 games between 1971 and 1986) and his brother Brian Gibbins (1 game as a sub in 1978).

Ray Cording (140 games between 1950 and 1956) and his brother Eric Cording (1 game in 1947).

Bert Woolley (183 games between 1921 and 1928) and his brother Edgar Woolley (1 game in 1921).

Billy Stott (108 games between 1929 and 1934) and his brother Fred Stott (4 games in 1921/22).

Stan Nicholson (127 games between1958 and 1969) and his nephew Tony Nicholson (6 games between 1983 and 1985).


Les Tonks (307 games between 1961 and 1974) and his son Kevin Tonks (1 game in 1983). 

Tim Slatter (76 games between 1982 and 1988) and his son Anthony Slatter (2 games in 2000).
